Barr & Barr was honored to manage the first major project at Holyoke Hospital in 20 years. This addition and renovation project was completed on budget in approximately 18 months and was comprised of seven phases of construction.
The project scope included construction of a two-story, 8000 sf addition, renovations of the existing surgical suite and medical offices, and incorporation of new mechanical systems without any interruption to hospital services.
The main challenge on this project was completing work in an active hospital, adjacent to the Operating Rooms. All work in the Operating Rooms was phased and coordinated through the safety department infectious control program protocol to ensure standards, not only for Barr & Barr but for all sub trades as well. Barr & Barr was linked directly to OR scheduling by radio to be able to stop at a moment’s notice for ongoing surgeries.
The success of this project led to other work at Holyoke Hospital, including the Cardiac Cath Lab, the MRI, and the CT Scan projects.
