Mandarin Oriental Spa
Location:
80 Columbus Circle (at 60th St.)
New York , New York 10023
Hip Manhattanites, cosmopolitan travelers, and those who crave luxury will find an urban sanctuary at the new Mandarin Oriental, New York. Its stunning location on the 35-54th floors of the Time Warner Center offers guests the best of the city, while the accommodating staff gives all the comforts of home.
Rather than booking individual treatments, the 14,500-square-foot spa offers Time Rituals, performed in stages known as: Welcome, Purify, Nurture, Balance, and Bliss. Guests begin their Time Rituals in the Tea Lounge consulting with the spa concierge, who will discuss the spa-goers unique needs and develop a treatment program. Guests then take advantage of the hotel's amazing spa facilities before receiving a treatment. They may spend time in the crystal steam room (featuring delicately-lit amethyst) and the vitality pool (where guests lie in hot mineral water on a suspended cushion of air while being gently massaged by hydrotherapy jets). They may then rinse off in the lifestyle showers. After enjoying the water treatments, guests await their services in separate men's and women's relaxation lounges, where they can read, relax, or meditate.
Then spa-goers receive a soothing foot ritual during which the therapist chooses the appropriate aromatherapy oils, based on the individual needs and goals of each person. Guests then begin an individualized treatment program. Signature treatments include Ayurvedic holistic body treatments to relieve tension and restore vitality, Balinese synchronized massage to assist in mental and spiritual bliss and Basalt stone therapy to heal and relax tense muscles. At the end of their time at the spa, guests settle down with their choice from the spa's extensive tea collection and enjoy the aroma of essential oils and the sound of therapeutic music before re-entering the outside world. |
